To many this might seem odd, it did to Randall Bennett at TechVi, but check out this microwave carrying Android.

Ok so Google isn’t really getting into food, and the company that’s created a buzz is one called, Touch Revolution.

Touch Revolution has stuck a 7-inch touchscreen and Android module into a microwave (and also a washing machine). A touch screen keyboard appears on the screen and there is also web access. The module itself is called the NIMble NIM1000 and it’s armed with an 806 MHz ARM processor and video acceleration co-processor.

The NIM1000 also supportS MMC/SD cards, WiFi, USB, and Ethernet.

Personally, I love this and think it’s going to be massive. Dare I say it – especially with the male audience. Let me tell you why. The washing machine scares me – dials push buttons (which sometimes pop out) even some of the dials push in and pull out – what is it all about? Temperature/load size/fabric… all of the women I know navigate washing machines like they invented the thing – but as for the guys i know, sometimes we guess with the dials…

Give me a touch screen with an intuitive (‘5 year old could do it’) display, and doing the laundry might actually be fun – especially if i could get ESPN on that thing.

Here’s Randall Bennett from TechVi with Jason Hiner (TechRepublic) and Stuart Miles (Pocket-Lint) discussing these products:

I love it – this kind of thing is what Android was made for.
