Bullguard Antivirus and Internet Security Review

The most recent version of Bullguard Internet Security – version 9.0 – is the first major release of this software in two years.  It sports a great new clean and simple look, and an easy to use interface with icons to click on that take you straight to the task you want to perform.

Your icon options are:

  • Scan for viruses
  • Backup your data
  • Allow/Block programs
  • Contact support
  • Online Drive
  • System status
  • Check for updates
  • Your Bullguard Account
  • Upgrade

This latest version of the software has been designed very much with the user in mind.  The software is very easy to use, and whether you’re an IT enthusiast, or someone who is relatively new to the world of computing, you should have no problems using this package.  There are no layers of menus to have to wade through to find the feature you’re searching for, instead each icon simply takes you to the task you wish to perform giving the software a very clean cut simple and friendly feel.

The software includes a number of key features:

  • Antivirus
  • Antispyware
  • Antiphishing
  • Spam filter
  • Instant messaging protection
  • 24/7 customer support

One or two of these features such as the instant messaging protection really stand out as when you exchange data, whether it’s a photo, or a document via an instant messenger service such as yahoo or msn, all the data is checked to make sure that you don’t inadvertently download a virus to your system.  Another feature which makes use of this system easy and valuable is that if you do encounter a problem anywhere along the line, Bullguard provide you with 24/7 customer support by telephone and they make sure that the people who talk to you do so in plain English as well.

5GB of backup space where you can store and thus protect all your most highly valued data is supplied as part of their backup service, and this means that if your system ever crashed, was stolen, or damaged in any way, and the data was lost, you’d still have your back up copy sat there safely so that you could access it and re-download it to your system.

When you set your computer to scan for viruses with most virus scanning software, you get just 3 levels of scan; quick scan, complete scan, and deep scan.  With Bullguard, the control of how much and how deeply you scan is given back to you, and you can set up your system to scan exactly what you want it to scan.

This latest version of Bullguard’s internet security does a great job of securing your computer from online threats like viruses, spyware, hackers, identity theft and credit card fraud quietly and without fuss.  At the same time it is simple to use and stylishly designed.
