Future Junk – A new type of gadget blog
By Matt at 4 January, 2010, 4:34 am
Future Junk is an idea I had for a gadget blog many years ago and it was left sat on my ‘to do’ list, simmering, bubbling, growing, sometimes dying… So as we enter 2010, it’s my mission to revive the idea and water the little seed that it may one day grow into a giant pear tree. Aren’t pears the best fruit !
What’s with the name?
Well ‘Future Junk’ embraces the reality that as soon as you buy some new piece of technology it’s already old and it’s dying. It’s becoming obselete and there’s a replacement already in the pipeline or even being produced by the company that just took your money for the less shiny, old thing you’re now holding. It’s the nature of the beast and as early adopters or everyday consumers we know that technology keeps on moving.
But Future Junk doesn’t just need to cover shiny gadgets I was thinking to myself… technology is pretty broad. Everytime you switch on the TV there’s some commercial showing you that your toothpaste is now obsolete, or even that heating soup up in a pan is the old fashioned way – Did you know the new way to eat/drink soup is with a plastic, peelable, microwaveable, sippy cup thingy ?
The Mission
So the mission is for Future Junk to be a blog and forum covering technology, ideas and life. So it’s not your ordinary tech blog.
But I can’t do it alone – If you would like to get involved with the content, design, forum management or any part of this project please contact me at the email below. Not only can it be rewarding to have people read your stuff, but we’re also working on a revenue share system based on your contribution to the website… so who knows, a few years down the line we may all be sipping cocktails and eating pear crumble on the beach…
Many thanks for reading… now it’s your turn – write a comment or send an email below.
